Covenant of Marriage ~Part 2
“Therefore a man shall leave
his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh”. Genesis 2:22-23
It is very important to understand the “oneness” God wants to create and design within our marriage.
As Christians it is also very important (if you are contemplating marriage) to be sure the person you are with, is
the person God has called you be with, and only then you will be able to make the well thought out decision to say yes or
no to marriage.
Marriage is not only a ministry, but a mystery. Ministry because it testifies to those around you
and to your community how beautiful a marriage of a Christian man and woman can be with God’s blessing.
Marriage God’s way can also be one of the most maturing, joyous and fulfilling experiences you can achieve, if
done according to the awesome teaching of Scripture.
Mystery because how it is that God can take two people and for the most part, with different minds sets,
upbringings, ideas how marriage “should be”, and even two people with different plans and goals for their lives.
Yes, some plans and goal are the same, but we must remember, we still are two individual people, yet one in the Lord.
God created each of us in a uniquely special way to fulfill His calling for our lives as a marriage, but also as His
individual children. We are not called to let the other change what makes us unique, but in marriage we
are called to use our uniqueness to compliment the other selflessly, and be their number one encourager to help them grow
in the ways of God. To understand our calling as a spouse is vitally important in our marriage and what
a beautiful thing it is to be called and to be chosen as my spouses ‘help mate’ to not tear him/her down any chance
I get, but to life him/her in love, so our spouse becomes all God has called him/her to be.
If we really think about this great responsibility and
ministry it almost seems impossible to achieve or even carry out for any amount of time, yet far from it.
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work
in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” Phil 1:6
Marriage was designed for man and woman since
the beginning of time and it’s one of the most powerful ways to show the world the amazing and transforming power of
the love of God. God wants every marriage to succeed in all things and He has given us ample direction
in His Word for each marriage to be abundantly-abounding in the true sense of oneness.
If marriage wasn’t such an awesome ministry, why do you think
the enemy has attacked it the way he has? Why do you think he is also trying to redefine marriage? Yes,
the enemy has done a great job in influencing the world to redefine marriage and even has confused so many in the church today.
This is why it is so important for those of us who are currently involved in the ministry of marriage (Just a reminder,
this means anyone who is married) to use our marriages for the glory of God and not add to the confusion, but to be a crystal
clear example of what two people can become when we learn in all submission to surrender our ideas of marriage and through
the power of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of the Word to take us to experience a marriage truly created in the ONENESS
only God can accomplish in us, for us and for the blessing of another’s to hope in achieving.
Marriage in God’s eyes is a super-natural
way of living and one of the most rewarding experiences in our Christian walk. “The closest you can ever get to a person
is in the ministry of marriage.”
God bless you and your marriage and may it become all God wants it to be.
